A custom colorway, cast by hand for Charles Schwab.
When Finn Partners needed a corporate gift for their client Charles Schwab, they came to us for a custom take on one of our favorite objects: the Brave New Cube. The brief was a colorway pulled straight from the Schwab Advisor ProDirect palette — marigold, cobalt, and a soft light blue.
The Brave New Cube is our terrazzo riff on the classic soma puzzle: seven hand-cast concrete pieces that nest into one clean cube, then come apart into a desk toy with more than 240 ways to put it back together. For Schwab we cast a run of 35, mixing the three custom colors across every set so no two cubes look quite alike.
Thirty-five cubes, cast and vacuum-sealed by hand — each finished with the Schwab Advisor ProDirect mark.
Because every cube is seven separate pours in colors we don’t run every day, a batch like this takes time — roughly ten weeks from the go-ahead to the loading dock. The finished cubes went out to advisors as the centerpiece of Schwab’s own campaign.
